As part of the implementation of the 8th commitment of the 4th OGP national action plan and following the Recommendation of the OECD Council on Open Government to which Tunisia adhered in 2019, the e-Government Unit at the Presidency of the Government organized, in cooperation with the OECD, three workshops on the elaboration of an open government strategy in Tunisia.
The first day was devoted to present the methodology and the stages of preparation of the open government strategy in Tunisia. In this regard, two presentations have been designed on the extent to which the principles of transparency and participation in the framework of open government are concretized, presenting the most important achievements related to the two areas, in addition to reviewing the challenges and the recommendations that can be adopted to further improve transparency and participation in government action.
The second day was dedicated to present the most important achievements that have been implemented in the area of accountability and integrity, as well as the associated challenges and recommendations. Then, the discussion was opened with the participants around the different aspects that were discussed and on the ideas and proposals related to the priority reforms that can be included in the open government strategy; and aligned with the aspirations of all stakeholders at the national level in the area of open government.
Noting that this strategy is aiming at :
- Establish a framework promoting the coordination of reforms carried out in this area, at local and national levels,
- Define the objectives and priorities that must be implemented effectively,
- Provide the appropriate strategic framework for the OGP national action plans, developed and implemented every two years.
- Promote and anchor the culture of Open Government within the public sector and in society.
