Within the framework of the implementation of Commitment No. 15 of the Fifth National Action Plan for the Open Government Partnership, aimed at facilitating access for persons with disabilities to data and services available on public websites, the e-Government Unit has developed a national digital accessibility plan. This plan takes into account all social groups and adheres to international standards, in line with global efforts to strengthen digital inclusion as a key pillar for equal opportunities and autonomy. It also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals on inclusion and non-discrimination of all societal groups, while enhancing Tunisia’s standing in international indicators, notably the Digital Accessibility Rights Evaluation Index.
To implement this commitment, several concrete actions have been carried out, including:
• The development of a national survey to collect data on the current state of digital accessibility, followed by the preparation of an analytical report to assess the situation and identify key gaps.
• The recruitment of a national expert specialized in providing technical support for the project.
• The organization, by the e-Government Unit, of a series of working meetings with various public entities to prepare the draft national digital accessibility plan, in collaboration with the appointed expert.
• The holding of a working meeting in June 2024 to present the national plan to the relevant ministries and entities.
The implementation of this commitment is expected to help reduce the digital divide by providing persons with disabilities and the elderly with equitable access to public platforms, while improving the quality of electronic services in accordance with international standards. This will strengthen citizens’ trust and consolidate Tunisia’s image as a pioneering country in digital inclusion.
