Call for Expressions of Interest to Join the international program “OGP Local”

Local authorities play a major role in improving the lives of citizens, as they are closest to them and their concerns, they provide most of the services that contribute to improving citizens’ lives, and they strive for greater transparency and efficiency in local work. Today, it has become necessary to strengthen the principles of transparency, accountability and citizen participation as fundamental pillars of local governance, which are the basic principles of the Open Government Partnership.
In this context, it should be noted that the Open Government Partnership Programme at local level has led to the implementation of numerous initiatives and practical achievements in many countries. Building on this work, the Open Government Partnership Initiative is announcing the extension of this programme until 2024 by accepting 50 local juridictions(municipalities) to join this international initiative.
Local jurisdictions wishing to join can benefit from this programme by :
– Benefiting from a distance orientation programme and a continuous training programme with the aim of developing, designing and implementing reforms of interest to open government, preparing local action plans and developing capacity in the field of open government. Noting that a number of Member States and governments are implementing a mentoring programme to support new members.
– Benefit from training, providing technical support and coaching by numerous experts and specialists in the field,
– Appreciating the initiatives and achievements that have been made in this field.

Local jurisdictions wishing to join this programme can submit their application before the end of 26 January 2024, by following the various steps listed in this link related to the call for expressions of interests to join the programm.
