The e-Government Unit at the Presidency of the Government, in cooperation with the World Bank, organized the second edition of the national hackathon “OpenGovDataHack2023” on the reuse of open public data, on March 17, 18 and 19, 2023 in the city of Hammamet.
This hackathon aims to promote the reuse of open government data and create opportunities for innovation through the development of web and mobile applications and reuses based on open government data in the sectors of education, health and social affairs, which have been published by the ministries involved and available on the national open data portal data.gov.tn.
It should be noted that the first version, OpenGovDataHack2020, has been organized in January 2020 for the benefit of the transport, culture and health insurance sectors.
In fact, the second edition of this hackathon was an excellent framework that brought together around 140 participants in 33 teams of different ages, from different regions, and having various skills, characterized by their complementarity and consistency. The OpenGovDataHack20233 contributed alos to the development of intellectual exchanges by establishing a kind of challenges and teamwork which met simultaneously throughout the event despite the competitive atmosphere.
Noting that more than 545 participants applied for this competition, of which 70% were students and 8% civil servants, and that the percentage of participants aged between 18 and 24 exceeded 53%, while 32% of the participants came from Tunisia with the presence of significant percentages of participants from different regions of Tunisia.
Six (06) teams, among 33 competing teams, were able to reach the hackathon’s final after their success in the development of digital and innovative solutions in the sectors of education, health and social affairs, based on the exploitation and reuse of open public data published on data.gov.tn.
In this context, during the closing ceremony of the contest, these 06 teams were honored for their efforts and to encourage them to continue their work by awarding them prizes and certificates of appreciation.
In addition, Seven other teams were also honored by giving them symbolic gifts represented in the provision of accompaniment and support by some institutions and entities active in accompanying innovative ideas and projects.
