A workshop for members of the Joint Advisory Committee responsible for monitoring the OGP program, coinciding with the visit to Tunisia of the regional coordinator of the Open Government Partnership for North Africa and the Middle East

On the occasion of the visit to Tunisia of the Regional Coordinator of the Open Government Partnership for North Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Tarik Nesh-Nash, during the period from 20 to 24 February 2023, during which he visited a number of senior officials and leaders of a set of public structures involved in this field, such as Mr. Hatem Gafsi, adviser to the head of government, the e-government unit , the National Authority for Access to Information, the High Committee for Administrative and Financial Control, the e-government unit at the presidency of the government in cooperation with the National Democratic Institute (NDI) have organized a workshop for members of the Joint Advisory Committee in charge of the OGP program in Tunisia. This workshop was held on 22-23-24 February 2023 in Hammamet.
This workshop was an opportunity for the regional representative of the Open Government Partnership for North Africa and the Middle East, Mr. Tarik Nesh-Nash to make interventions to further explain the eligibility criteria and methodologies adopted to calculate and revise them, and how to improve the ranking of Tunisia in this regard by providing solutions to the current situation, which is the decline in the ranking of Tunisia following the failure to publish the closing reports of the state budget on time.
During this workshop, the expert presented a number of recommendations for the preparation of the 5th national OGP action plan. This is in addition to the presentation of the strategy of the Open Government Partnership at the international level (2023-2025). In this context, the vision, mission, radical changes and strategic objectives related to this strategy were presented.
Participants interacted with these interventions through discussions, which allowed Mr. Tarek Tarik Nesh-Nash to clarify many points by answering various questions related to the eligibility criteria and how to improve the ranking of Tunisia.
As part of the reflection on the mechanisms that can support the path of the Open Government Partnership and find appropriate solutions to avoid the problems raised, Mr. Najib Jeridi, Senior Director of Programs at the National Democratic Institute-NDI, presented an intervention on “Problem Driven Iterative Adaptation (PDIA)”.
In order to involve the members of the Advisory Committee in the design of these mechanisms and the search for possible solutions to further support the Open Government Partnership Program, workshops were organized and facilitated by an expert in the field of management skills development. These workshops focused on:
– The presentation of the success stories of the Open Government Partnership in Tunisia,
– Mechanisms for marketing the Tunisian experience in OGP at the national and international levels,
– Mechanisms for expanding civil society participation in the Open Government Partnership Program,
– Tools to overcome crises that may arise during the implementation of the Open Government Partnership Program.
The workshop was attended by members of the Joint Advisory Committee responsible for monitoring the development and implementation of the OGP national action plan, representing civil society and the government side. This workshop was an opportunity to build the capacity of the members of the advisory committee to work collectively and to develop relationships among its members to facilitate its work. In addition to discussing mechanisms and ways to support and sustain the path of the OGP in Tunisia.
