Within the framework of the “OPEN GOV WEEK” activities: an open awareness day on the importance of entrenching the principles of open government in the context of decentralization

As part of the celebration of the “Open Gov Week” by all countries affiliated to the Open Government Partnership initiative, including Tunisia, the High Authority of Local Finance, in cooperation with the E-Government Unit of at the Presidency of Government and members of the Joint Advisory Committee in charge of OGP Program in Tunisia and the Training and Support Center for Decentralization, organized an Open Awareness Day on the importance of enshrining the principles of open government in the framework of decentralization and the expected impact on the governance of communal finances and on improving the performance of municipalities.

This event took place on May 17, 2022 from ten o’clock in the morning until noon at the headquarters of the Center for Training and Support to Decentralization in Tunis.

The objective of this open day is to introduce the concept of open government and the different principles related to it, to present initiatives and commitments in this framework, to suggest aspects of cooperation and to benefit from the enshrinement of the principles of transparency, accountability and participation in the management of public finances of municipalities.

Representatives from a number of municipalities, public structures and national bodies, concerned with the consecration of open government at local level participated in this day. This is in addition to the participation of representatives of civil society and members of the advisory committee in charge of the Open Government Partnership program.
