As part of the launch of the implementation of the commitment (10) of the 4th Open Government Partnership (OGP) National Action Plan (2021-2023) on enhancing the role of youth in designing and monitoring public projects at the local level (Implementation of the project on youth action plans), a working meeting online was organized on Thursday, January 27, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. This meeting was organized by GIZ in collaboration with the National Federation of Tunisian Municipalities and the E-Government Unit at the Presidency of Government.
Note that the project “youth action plans”, subject of commitment 10 of the fourth OGP Action Plan was developed under the Project “Initiative for Municipal Development”, funded by the Bundesministerium für wirtschaftliche Zusammenarbeit und Entwicklung (BMZ) and implemented by GIZ and the National Federation of Tunisian Municipalities in support of e-government unit at the Presidency of Government.
In fact, more than 30 people participated in this online meeting. Among the participants, mayors, elected municipal officials and municipal executives representing the 12 municipalities involved in the implementation of commitment 10 of the 4th OGP Action Plan: The municipalities of: “Hammem Chatt “- “Gabes “- “Dar Chaabene EL Fefri “- “Zriba “- “Zaouiet Sousse”- “Carthage “-” Metlaoui “-” Sidi Bourouis “-” Teboursek “-” Ghzela “-” Nfidha “-” Bechri Fatnasa Negga “.
The objective of the meeting is to ensure the launch of the implementation of commitment 10 of the 4th OGP National Action Plan. The meeting was also an opportunity to explain to the representatives of the municipalities the implementation process of the “youth action plans” project: a Multi-actor process, where young people themselves develop projects to promote their participation in local public life.
The meeting agenda included the following items:
- Words of welcome and presentation of an overview of the OGP program in Tunisia by the Director-General of the E-Government Unit,
- The intervention of the National Federation of Tunisian Municipalities representative on the role of the Federation in activating youth participation,
- Presentation of the experience of Tunisia in the Open Government Partnership (OGP) and the commitment 10 of the 4th National OGP Action Plan by the e-government unit representative,
- Presentation of the project “Initiative for Municipal Development-IDM” and the process ” youth action plans “, by the GIZ representative,
- Presentation by the expert from the consulting firm “StreamLine Consulting” on the intervention of this firm with 12 municipalities in the various stages of the project.
Thereafter, the discussion was opened and several points and questions were raised by the participants on the progress of the project “youth action plans” including the timeline and objectives of the project and the next steps. It was pointed out that a number of activities can be conducted online due to the situation imposed by the coronavirus.
