As part of the “PAGOF” porgramme aiming to support the Open Government in the Francophone African Countries, Tunisia participated in the Regional Seminar on “Open Government of Francophone Africa” at its second session organized by the French Development Agency (AFD) and the French Media Development Agency (CFI) in cooperation with the Ivorian government on 5-6 November 2019 in Abidjan – Côte d’Ivoire. This event brought together, over two days, more than 100 participants from senior public officials and civil society representatives from French-speaking African countries.
It is important to underline that Tunisia hosted the first session of this regional seminar in November 2018 given it is considered the first French-speaking African country to join the Open Government Partnership Initiative since January 14, 2014 and taking into account its multiple achievements in the field of open government.
This seminar allowed Tunisia to present its experience in the open government area through three interventions. The first intervention concerned “the experience of Tunisia in the field of access to information and the mechanisms adopted by the Tunisian government for the implementation of the organic law of access to information”. The second intervention revolved around the project “Instauring the Open Government at the Local Level”, which included within the third OGP Action Plan. The third intervention focused ont “The Role of Parliament, the Media, the Private Sector and the Universities in the Open Government Process”, by presenting the platform of access to informations related to the political exercise of parliamentarians “Marsad Majles”.
